Netherlands Bound

Greetings friends and family!

Earlier this year Pearce was accepted to a Masters of Health Professions Education program at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. While most of the two year program will be distance learning, he is required to travel to Maastricht Netherlands for a month out of each year of the program. This is a big deal for our family- he gets to build new knowledge in his field of research and I get to travel the world. The kids are along for the ride.

In the past, we have blogged about our adventures so I thought I'd continue  the tradition. I hope you join us on this adventure.

Maastricht, Netherlands is in the very southern tip of the Netherlands, sandwiched between Belgium to the West and Germany to the East. It is thought to be the oldest city in the Netherlands having been inhabited continuously since Roman times. We will fly into Amsterdam and then take a 2 hr and 40 minute train ride to get to it.

While in Maastricht, we will be staying in student housing at the Apart Hotel Randwyck near the University. This will give us good access to the center of Maastricht and many of the local shops, restaurants and attractions. Pearce will also have an easy commute to school every day.

Luckily, we will have a two bedroom suite which should help all of us sleep better at night. It is yet to be determined if we have a kitchen, so we may have to get creative when it comes to eating. It is also close distance to one of two train stations in the city so we should be able to easily travel to other cities on the weekends.

We are beyond thrilled for this opportunity both for Pearce's professional career and for me to fulfill my wanderlust. And of course, we are excited to start sharing our love or international travel with our kids at such an early age. I can't wait to see what adventures lie in store for us!
